Mosquitoes are a prevalent issue in Zimbabwe, particularly in the region of Great Zimbabwe. The warm and humid climate provides ideal breeding grounds for these pesky insects, leading to a high population density. This, coupled with the abundance of stagnant water sources, creates the perfect storm for mosquito-borne diseases to thrive.

Year round mosquito forecast

Malaria is the most common mosquito-borne disease in Zimbabwe, with Great Zimbabwe experiencing a significant number of cases each year. Other diseases such as dengue fever and Zika virus also pose a threat to the local population. The lack of proper infrastructure and healthcare facilities in rural areas exacerbates the spread of these diseases.

Efforts are being made to control the mosquito population in Zimbabwe, including the use of insecticide-treated bed nets and indoor residual spraying. Public health campaigns are also being conducted to educate the population on the importance of prevention methods such as wearing long sleeves and using insect repellent. However, challenges such as limited resources and access to remote areas continue to hinder these efforts.
